A product of the North Carolina educational system, Marsh was a recipient of Certificates of Art in both 1981 and 1982. He was also the 1983 winner of the prestigious Art Pen Award. Having received his Associate in Applied Science Degree in Commercial Graphics from Randolph Community College in Asheboro, North Carolina, Marsh came to Atlanta, Georgia in 1989. The Art Institute of Atlanta provided Marsh with an Associate of Arts Degree in Illustration/Fashion Illustration in 1991.
