Ilmars Cirulis (2010-06-04 21:41:55) Gurgenidze & Mitrofanov 1981 white to move Thibault de Vassal (2010-06-04 22:10:56) Gurgenidze & Mitrofanov 1981 Are the pieces on the right squares? Black King in h1 surrounded by his pawns? Strange :) Ilmars Cirulis (2010-06-04 22:43:48) Gurgenidze & Mitrofanov 1981 pieces are placed correct :) Philip Roe (2010-06-10 00:48:09) Gurgenidze & Mitrofanov 1981 Well, 1.Qxh2+ for starters. After 1..Qxh2, White moves the Rook somewhere and Black is in zugzwang apart from his pawns. Cant White just wait with the Rook until the Pawn moves run out? Philip Roe (2010-06-11 02:47:33) Gurgenidze & Mitrofanov 1981 Ah yes, I thought that was too easy. If White plays random waiting moves, Black pushes to h3, sacrifices his Q with check, and plays h2, inviting White to give stalemate. There must be a way to thwart that.
