Jim Gourdie
I am a gringo who work in and then retired to Venezuela many years ago. I'm new to chess and am unrated. I've been using the resources on the internet to learn chess and playing against my Chessology software (not very good, in my opinion). I've never played another human; on-line or across the board.
I came to FICG to play correspondence chess. Blitz type chess does not interest me, at this time.
As of today, 10/19/14, I'm still trying to figure out to get on a waiting list, since I am unrated. FIGS has given me a temporary rating of 1800; but my guess is that I am playing at a level between 1300 and 1400.
My other interests are blogging (politics and economics and the state of the world in general) and listening to jazz.
