How to verify Googlebot

An interesting article to detect & verify Googlebots :

ht*p://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2006/09/how-to-verify-googlebot.html

The method consists in doing a reverse DNS lookup, verifying that the name is in the googlebot.com domain, then doing a corresponding forward DNS->IP lookup using that googlebot.com name

Another method uses the WHOIS.
