Hello,
I just created my first internet page and I would like to do search engines optimisation to rank it number one in Google, can someone explain to me how to do this ? I would like to have a list of tips or lessons, whatever.

How to rank number 1 in Google ?
Great general pointers on ranking #1. I would short answer some one with this question like this:
Have a fast loading page with clean navigation.
Good META Tags
400-700 words with 3-6% Key Word Density
Quality Backlinks to your site
A lot of time on the internet
Good offline marketing

On-Page SEO really starts during the design and development of your web site:
1. Provide brief and clear titles for every one of your web pages, accurately describing the page's content. Don't repeat the same title in 2 pages.
2. Take advantage of the description Meta Tags. Google might use the description Meta Tags as snippets for your pages. Write a 'descriptive' message that can inform the user about the topic of your page.
3. Structure your site to provide readable URLs. This not only helps the search engines but it is user-friendly. You can use: mysite.com/folders/desc_23.html (wrong) Or you can use: mysite.com/services/pressure-washing.html (right!)
4. Use meaningful "anchor text" and clearly identify them as links. You can use: click here > (wrong) Or you can use: Our Tiling Services > (right!)
5. Take advantage of Heading tags to provide hierarchy to your content. H1, H2, H3, will tell the search agents what is more important in your page.
6. Make your images search engine friendly by using the "alt" attribute. Provide a clear, descriptive "alternative" text for the images.
7. Use text-based navigation, this makes easy for search engines to crawl and understand your site. Try to avoid navigation with Flash or JavaScript since some devices may not handle these properly.
8. Include a sitemap; an HTML site map listing your pages in categories. An XML version of your site map also helps the search engines to discover your pages.
9. Providing fresh, on topic and useful content to your audience not only keeps your site interesting, search engines love new, relevant information.
10. Avoid splash pages. Once popular, splash pages -often with flash animation- were used as a dynamic introduction to a website. Splash pages are now perceived as non-user-friendly. And for SEO, you are literally putting a barrier between the search engines and your main page, where all your relevant, fresh content is; not to mention the links that will serve to crawl the rest of your pages.
Many other tings can be done to improve your chances of a good ranking, but this list gives something to work on and monitor while I post more tips.

Hi,
For every site before doing optimization, onpage optimization is to be done essentially. This is because the onpage is the essential that a search engine gives priority. If it is perfect, then the site gains a good page rank. Then by doing off page optimization gives more boost up and thus page rank increases.

How to rank number 1 in Google ?
If you are thinking about to achieve number one position by searching organic keyword than it is a difficult task however you can get it on top if you have less competitors on search with your keyword.

Target both "industry-related" and "non-industry-related" websites as your link exchange partners. For example, if you are providing SEO services, then try getting links from "industry-related websites (i.e. websites dealing with SEO, maybe your business rivals). This is important, because if 10 of your rival (here SEO) sites give link to your site, then Google will surely pay importance to your site, because getting links from rival companies are difficult. Your site MUST be of some high caliber else the other 10 sites won't have linked! Also, try procuring general links as well.
3. Always exchange links with websites which have high PageRank (PR) (at least 4, the more the better!) (both Index Page as well as Resources/LinksPage of the Link Partner's site should have PRs of >=4)
Have a link code ready for participating in link exchange program. Here is a sample link code for a SEO company.

ACtually I read somewhere that Google release an statement on above news saying that information is wrong... Thats impossible that 7% of internet users beat 90% of internet user on one keyword....
