Import Aunsoft Canon HF11 Thanksgiving HD Videos to Adobe Premiere with Smooth Playback

One of my friends came to me with problem playing AVCHD on Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. CS4 recognized the Canon HF11 AVCHD videos, but the playback is not smooth on her Macbook Pro. She could edit P2 clips nicely, but not AVCHD clips.

Well, my friend got her computer about 2 years ago, and the configuration does not come with a lot of RAM. AVCHD, as the raw HD video format, is really difficult to process on systems with low RAM. It is recommended to run a Quad core CPU (Core 2 Quad Q550) and more than 4GB RAM to play AVCHD smoothly. However, my friend does not want to change the computer yet.

One of the compromising solutions is to adjust the preview monitor to auto or draft mode. Even though the playback quality is not good, it will come out great in final format. Another solution is to convert AVCHD to other format for editing on Mac Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.
